Astro Celebrations – A Q-SYS Powered Event Venue

The Astro Celebrations facility has a wide range of A/V capabilities that will enable the facility to host events of any type from corporate meetings and multi-day events to weddings and birthday parties. Through the power of Q-SYS, you can share your event around the world with the press of a button. Most facilities require on-site A/V techs for event live streams, but the Astro Celebrations Q-SYS system takes the complexity out of the mix by providing an easy USB connection to your PC/MAC to host a Zoom, Google, or Microsoft Teams meeting. This simple USB connection enables you to utilize the facility’s multiple 4K video cameras, Sennheiser microphones, and the QSC-powered speaker system to provide you with enterprise-level video conferencing equipment for your meeting or event.

Performance Audio and Video - Atlanta, GAThe Sennheiser microphone system is a key feature of the facility and it is extremely easy to use. There is no setup required and no confusing instructions, it is as simple as unmuting the microphone, and it’s ready to go. There are two larger-than-life (159”) projection screens that enable you to share your content from spreadsheets to videos with professional Epson large venue projectors. The 159” Screen Innovations projector screens don’t require the room lights to be dimmed to be impactful. The beautiful Astro Celebrations facility, together with the easy-to-use Q-SYS system creates the perfect combination of technology and design to bring your event up to the next level.

The Three-Phase Performance AV Design Process

Phase 1 – Needs Analysis

Performance Audio & Video uses a documented approach to develop custom A/V System designs for our Clients. The PAV design process starts with Phase 1 to determine the client’s desires. There were two critical needs discovered during the process.

  • The A/V system must be capable of hosting a wide variety of event types from corporate video conferencing to weddings and parties.
  • The A/V system must have the ability to easily expand capabilities as needs change over time without the need to replace key components.

Phase 2 – Budgetary Design

The PAV design process continues with Phase 2 based on the Needs Analysis and Performance AV’s 15+ years of expertise. Once a budgetary design is agreed upon the PAV design process continues.

Phase 3 – Value Engineering

The final stage is Phase 3 when PAV provides clients with value engineering options as well as pricing for optional upgrades. We find that providing VE and upgrades at the same time enables clients to best determine if any of the VE options presented enable them to choose optional upgrades that they determine are more important.

The Q-SYS control was chosen based on its ability to manage everything from video conferencing to multi-zone background audio all within the same Q-SYS platform. Q-SYS allows us to manage a facility that can be used as a video conferencing space one day and a wedding the next. Q-SYS offers a level of long-term flexibility that will allow the facility to change easily make changes based on the request of their client. These cameras are equally powerful for meetings and live-streaming events such as corporate presentations and special events like weddings. This is to give access to people that cant travel/distant family members to share events and memories to people that cannot make it to the big event. It can live stream or record it, to remember this event forever. The cameras are extremely high quality, a video can be used with Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Q-SYS NV-32 video distribution

The NV 32 was heavily utilized throughout the facility to allow any video source to show on any display. It offers a powerful platform to give 4K video throughout the facility, convenient placement of podiums, and a venue where there are no fixed locations. For this, a portable version of the nv32 is used to allow any placement. PAV has created a customized NV32 kit that enables video connection to be placed anywhere inside the facility, which allows extremely flexible placement in the room setup.

QSC

QSC Speakers

The QSC speaker was chosen for its wide coverage area and well-balanced audio quality. This means we were able to cover more area with fewer speakers thus reducing installation costs while maintaining audio quality. With an 8-inch speaker in place, we did not need to add subwoofers in the associated cost to the project while still achieving balanced-sounding audio. The speaker was used in the main event halls.

  • The Orion Atrium room is covered by 2 AD-P6T pendant speakers, providing a wonderful backdrop for you and your guests.
  • The outdoor areas are covered by the QSC AC-S6T speakers, they cover multiple outdoor spaces providing broad coverage and exceptional sound quality.
  • The restrooms are covered by AC-C4T, a 4-inch speaker perfect for background audio like restrooms and corridors. They offer pleasing sound quality and are budget-friendly.

DANTE Audio

DANTE audio allows flexible audio routing throughout the facility. For example, if an event wants to send the presentation audio to the restrooms instead of background audio, that is simple for the venue to make that adjustment without the need for advanced programming or any physical changes, they will simply pick it from a list of available audio. Any audio to any zone at any time. Dante equals simple.

DANTE eliminates the need for a single purpose audio cables by moving all of the devices to a standard IT Network. DANTE effortlessly sends video or hundreds of channels of audio over slender ethernet cables with perfect digital fidelity. All connections are now managed with software, making audio connections and adjustments fast, reliable, and easy to adjust. Because all devices share the same network, signals can be sent between any devices no matter where they are located on a site, with no change to the wiring at all. DANTE systems are easily expanded, exactly as one might add a printer to a network. Just connect additional devices to any available network jack and start using it.

The size of Astro required us to use the largest M4250 AV over IP network switch, it’s a 40 port PoE++ providing enough processing power for the facility as it is today and well into the future.

The NETGEAR M4250 is designed for AV over IP applications and is capable of routing video from NV 32 throughout the facility while simultaneously routing DANTE audio over 8 audio zones while also streaming PTZ video via teams with ease.
